Join our stone setting workshop in the beautiful surrounds of the artist’s colony of Montsalvat in Melbourne,
with Master Craftswoman Jeanette Dyke and learn how to make your own silver claw set pendant in her professionally equipped studio.

 

STONE SETTING WORKSHOP
MAKE A SILVER CLAW SET PENDANT

The Course:
• Make a silver claw set pendant and learn claw setting
• This course teaches you everything you need to know in order to make your setting from silver sheet and wire, we do not use pre made, cast or stamped settings
• There is a focus on fabricating your own settings so that you will learn how to make settings for any size round, oval or freeform stone or object yourself
• We use a pre made silver bail, so the focus is on making the claw setting and learning how to set
• Tips and tricks on soldering
• Everything is supplied in the price: silver, round CZ stone, tools to use during the class and consumables
• This is a skills based workshop and as such there is no option to create your own design for this particular class
• If you wanted to make your own claw set design, please book a private class
• Ideal for beginner level jewellers who already have basic skills and intermediate jewellers
• Also suitable for any students who have done any of my classes
• You must have the following skills already: Soldering, annealing, cutting, filing and emerying
• Suitable for 18yrs+

• Class cost – $295
• All materials: pre made silver bail, sterling silver sheet and wire and 1x CZ faceted stone are provided as setting packs and included in the price

What skills you will learn:
• Learn how tomake your own claw settings from sheet and wire to fit a stone or found object 
• Set your claws
• Various shaped claws
• How to measure the correct length of your claws
• Soldering tips and tricks
• Soldering a claw set collet to a bail
• Surface finishing and polishing techniques

What you will get:
• By the end of the course you will have a stunning silver stone set pendant to take home
• You will have lots of help and personal attention as I have a maximum of 5 students in a class
• All tools are supplied for you to use during the class (not to keep)
• A list of tools, stone and materials suppliers
• All consumables included in the price: solder, gas, emery, blades

What you should bring and wear:
• Dont wear loose clothing such as flared sleeves or scarves
• Bring reading glasses if you wear them

• Bring a loupe and optivisor (or similar) if you have one
• A pair of good steady hands
• A pen and notebook
• Tie long hair back
• Apron
